A thought occurs to me, just now, that I have not been comfortable with a certain car blog since it changed from obsessed with the culture of cars to obsessed with the cult of cars. It seems to me to be a big change. While many people have no problem with being in a cult, I do. It is the same problem that I have with the show, American Idol. I cannot profess at one moment to worship the God whose number one rule is, “Thou shalt have no other gods,” while I belong to a cult or try to become an idol for the worship of others. My children say, “They don’t really mean idol like that.” Oh, I beg to differ. They mean it exactly like that. I guess it is hard to believe that I am fun at parties when I say things like that, but I am!

I do not agree with those that say you cannot be Christian without a life of unrelenting sacrifice and discomfort. There are those who believe that following Christ means never having to say, “I am having fun.” They believe, or say they believe, that Jesus had 33 years of toil and hardship. And they believe that we should do the same. One book that a friend loaned me even advised men that they should not listen to their own wives about occasionally having times of merriment and personal items that bring pleasure. Did God supply this world with the means to make and appreciate parties and beauty and laughter and joy only for those who do not have an understanding of Christ? That is nonsense.

So I come to it, then. I am dissatified with Jalopnik. I have a need to increase my income. How can I create something that improves on the Gawker site and get paid to do it?

I will take suggestions.

As I was headed out of the bakery towards home, I saw this car and a fellow bakery patron was headed towards it. I asked if that was his yellow beauty and he said that it was. I asked if I could take a picture; he said that I could.

I asked if he was from around here and he said that he was. He said that I should get a picture of the dashboard.

I did.

He asked if I was a local, I said yes, a Close, my unce had the body shop in Odell. He said that he had known him. He mentioned Eileen Close. I said she was my great aunt. His sisters had run with her when they all worked at the restaurant on the curve.
